The first 16 words, of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America are: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." (the rest of the Amendment reads as follows: "...or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.") But it's those first 16 words that is the focus of Ep #194.
The phrase "separation of church and state" does not appear in the Constitution... but it would seem as if the "idea" certainly does! However, some Americans are looking to do away with that idea. The 4th Estate is a name given to the "press/news media/journalist" that primarily covers the Government & Political Officials. Journalists that investigate and report on Government & Political Officials preform an important role in our society! They help "link" the citizens & the government together and they help keep the government "in check"... or at least, that is what they should be doing!
Kris believes, however, that we are witnessing the "Death of the 4th Estate!" For some time, bias has been creeping into journalism... and more & more, "journalists" act as "commentators, with opinions" instead of "journalist"... which, doesn't have to be a bad thing, as long as everyone is honest about it & the citizens can balance out their intake.
However, the greatest problem is, the fact that so many Public Officials have decided they are just simply not going to take criticism from... anyone, anymore! And this is where this episode takes the listeners. This is the first part, in what will be a multiple episode look at "journalism", "criticism" and how society, can better hold Government & Political Officials accountable!

The debate was organized by the Jay County Freedom Coalition and was held on Monday, March 28th, 2022. In this episode, Kris listens to the recorded debate and cuts in, periodically, to give his thoughts and commentary on various aspects of the debate.
